The shop for hot dip zinc plating of pipes and large-sized hardware
One of the last investment projects realized at Rechitsa metizny plant is the building of the shop for hot dip zinc plating of pipes and large-sized hardware.
The decision upon construction of the shop by the plant manager Adam Vashkov was made on December, 18th, 2008. The first civil and erection works began in May, 2010 and they were completed by November. Within the next four months starting-up and adjustment works were conducted and solemn putting of the shop into operation took place on March, 30th, 2011.
OAO “Gomeltechmontazh” acted as a general contractor. The Institute “Giprozhivmash” was as a designer of the project. Such enterprises as OAO “Gomeltechmontazh” and UP “Polesyeenergosberezhenie” acted as subcontractors.
ZAO “Atlant”, Baranovichy machine-tool constructing factory and “Legmash”in Orsha were engaged in manufacturing of technological designs of a new shop.
On the whole, thanks to the precise and harmonious work of all divisions, under an immediate supervision of the director, the construction of the shop of hot dip zinc plating of pipes and large-sized hardware has been carried out in seven months.
The cost of this project worked out at 8841,189 thousand euro including own means of enterprise and bank demand lines of credit, including Italian.
The capacity of a new manufacture makes up to 40 thousand tons of hardware and pipes in a year. The newest equipment allows to pile up a superstable corrosion-resistant coating on constructions with the length of up to 12,5 m and weight of up to 8 tons. Possible thickness of the covering is from 40 to 200 microns. For small products with wall thickness less than 3 mm the thickness of the covering is 35-55 microns.
The basis of manufacture of hot dip zinc plating is the modern technology of corrosion-resistant protection of hardware on the equipment of Italian firm "Gimeco" which is one of the world leaders in the field of special equipment manufacture and was the first to develop the so-called capsule technology, providing protection of ecology to a high degree.
The technology of hot dip zinc plating allows to protect as much as possible the supports of electricity transmission lines, building hardware, span structures of railway, automobile and foot bridges, agricultural constructions from the environment’s influence.
Zinc also provides electrochemical protection as, adjoining steel, it creates a galvanic element. The tension arising in the element even if the zinc casing is cracked results in corrosion of zinc but not steel.
Due to the fact that zinc covering does not react with mineral oil, various solvents, lubricants, the usage of the given way of protection is expedient in application to the majority of constructions of oil-extracting, oil-refining enterprises.
Protective coverings essentially prolong the life time of constructions. Rather small expenses on piling up the covering allow to save money for acquisition of a new construction which would be inevitable in the absence of corrosion-resistant protection.
